We were honoured to be called upon during the refit of Möet & Chandon’s award-winning Victorian winery Domaine Chandon, a standout project designed by Foolscap Studio that has enjoyed numerous accolades.
We collaborated with Foolscap and the nominated shop-fitter in a Design & Construct arrangement that saw us working from renders and initial drawings to bring their vision to life through the creation of custom finishes Using flat and perforated steel sheets, we wrapped cabinet and banquette structures built by the joiner for the display and storage of wine bottles — but it’s the floating wine stands that we’re most proud of. Designed to represent champagne bubbles, these deceptively simple structures are the result of an intensive prototyping and production process. This involved developing another custom finish to ensure the entire job remained consistent and in line with the architect’s design intent. The brief for the joinery metal was it would have a natural yet uniform finish, which proved a challenge as each piece had to be individually treated with our custom metal colouring process.. We’d love to say it’s an exact science - but it never is - and on this job like many others, we chose to discard or completely rework any piece that varied too far from the reference sample.
